Skip Exemptions

New and updated legislation from the Environment Agency decrees that some common items are now exempt from skips. From 1st February 2023, many household items that you may be used to throwing out are now no longer accepted. It is advisable that, before you book one of our skips, you contact a member of our team to find out more information about the list of exemptions. Please get in touch.

New & Updated Exemptions

As of February 2023, the following items are no longer accepted by our team:

Armchairs
Sofas
Sofa beds
Home office chairs
Kitchen and dining room chairs
Stools and foot stools
Bean bags
Floor and sofa cushions
Futons

Also included are items that contain leather, synthetic leather, other fabrics or foam.

Hazardous Items Not Accepted

As well as household and upholstered furniture, due to updated laws these items are deemed hazardous and will not be accepted by Mega Skips Wales:

Mattresses
Fridges
Freezers
Fluorescent tubes
Oils/solvents
Liquids
Paint
Batteries
Tyres
Asbestos
Plasterboard
Japanese knotweed
Televisions
Computer monitors
